Bristol Motor Speedway Fan Advisory Board Overview

Bristol Motor Speedway is asking you to share your observations and suggestions on how we can continue to improve the experience of attending events at Bristol.

The board enters its second year in 2008.

What is it?

The Bristol Motor Speedway Fan Advisory Board is a group of loyal fans who provide feedback and new ideas that aid in the growth and development of the Speedway and its ability to exceed expectations by delivering the ultimate fan experience.

Via online message boards and annual meetings, the Fan Advisory Board targets visible issues, identifies challenges and presents ideas to enhance and better the “Bristol Experience.”

It is important to convey that the Fan Advisory Board does not replace direct communication/correspondence between fans and Bristol Motor Speedway management, but offers a consistent open line of communication from a cross section of fans with the best interest of the fan experience in mind.

Who is it?

In order to ensure a constructive working advisory board, membership is limited. The board is comprised of 30-40 members, consisting of a demographic cross-section of fans.

Correspondence and meetings include Bristol senior level management to ensure action items are fulfilled and executed in the vision of the board.

Board members serve a “rotational” term that includes three NASCAR race weekends at Bristol Motor Speedway. After serving for three NASCAR race weekends, members rotate off, and new members are appointed.

Why does BMS have a Fan Advisory Board?

At Bristol, what our fans think matters to us. As our President and General Manager Jeff Byrd regularly tells us, “Bruton’s name might be on the paycheck, but in all reality the fans are our true bosses.” In the past we have taken fan ideas/suggestions and actually implemented them here at Bristol. From the infield jumbotron and scoring tower to shuttle bus routes, we’ve listened to fan ideas and put them into action. The Fan Advisory Board increases the level of communication and provides us with an immediate sounding board in which to solicit fan opinions and consider fan ideas and suggestions.

Again, please note the board in no way is intended to replace the direct communication between fans and BMS management. It only supplements and enhances the fan-BMS relationship.

What kind of time commitment is necessary?

Meetings take place during NASCAR event weekends at Bristol Motor Speedway for board members in attendance. The online message board serves as an ongoing open line of communication and involvement/activity is unlimited. Throughout the year, teleconferences also take place, in which board members actively participate in meetings via phone.

Members serve a term that includes three NASCAR race weekends at Bristol Motor Speedway. After the three-race term is complete, members rotate off the board and are replaced by new members.

How do I become a member?

The next addition of members to the Bristol Motor Speedway Fan Advisory will come prior to the August 2008 race weekend when 10 new members will be added.  The Application process is expected to begin in June 2008.
