Something For Everyone
It is hard to believe racing season is here and at Bristol Motor Speedway we are foot-to-the-floor getting ready for everyone to hit town for the Food City 500 week.
A member of my family, to whom I now am not speaking, said to me the other night “boy I bet you guys are going to be getting busy here in the next month or so.”
Uh … yeah. As this guy says “Whoa, Nellie!”
It’s a big year here at BMS, little bit of something for everyone and a whole of something for most.
Bruton told us he wanted to give away some cars. We thought we could give away a couple of cars, sure. Bruton said 10. So … here you go!
We here at BMS celebrated the 50th anniversary of the track a couple of years ago. This year marks 50 years since the great Fireball Roberts earned his first win at Bristol, his first as well driving for Ford powerhouse Holman-Moody. Guests at the Food City 500 get a chance to read more about it in a story in the event souvenir program penned by veteran motorsports radio host and writer Skip Clayton.
What is it they used to say on “Let’s Make a Deal?” Oh yeah …. and that’s not all!
Thirty years ago, Darrell Waltrip went boggity, boogity, boogity to victory lane at Bristol – twice. Oh, he’s here too.
We mentioned Elliott’s silver anniversary and 20 years ago it was Rusty Wallace, who is going in here next week, and Mark Martin who will at some point – don’t you think?
Ten years ago, Kurt Busch swept both Cup races at Bristol. Has it really been 10 years?
So who knows what will happen when the green flag drops? But we do know before it does these guys will rock the house.
See y’all in Bristol.
