It's the most Wonderful time of the Year!
It is hard to believe it is time again to roll out Chill Hill, set up the Ice Rink and re-bulb over two-hundred displays for Speedway in Lights. Here at Bristol Motor Speedway and Speedway Children's Charities we are incredibly excited to offer something for the community during the winter months that at the same time raise money for children in the region!
We have an amazing staff at Bristol Motor Speedway that pitch in to help bulb and set up roadway lighting for Ford Speedway in Lights on the first two Saturdays of November. Volunteer groups and agency grant recipients have also spent time fixing broken bulbs. In the meantime, our incredible Operations team has been hard at work setting up HVAC Chill Hill, Johnson Controls Ice Rink, and the route for Speedway in Lights since immediately after the Irwin Tools Night Race. Needless to say, we have been very busy here at the "World's Fastest Half-Mile". Our winter events offer something for everyone in the family.
Ford Speedway in Lights is not only a holiday tradition and light show but offers a Christmas festival of sorts inside the track, known as "Christmas Village". Guests can roast marshmallows, purchase Christmas goodies and food, and new this year, enjoy the Battle at Bristol Fan Zone and light display! HVAC Chill Hill is a 300-foot snowless tube slide located just inside the north entrance of Bristol Motor Speedway and fun for family members of all ages. Or you can try the Johnson Controls Ice Rink. Look for the skating monkeys on TV! They are a fan favorite!
That leads me to let you know why these winter events are so extremely important to our region. Did you know that proceeds from these events benefit children in our region? Did you know that ticket purchases, skate rentals, and marshmallow money go towards helping a child in need? These winter events are the largest fundraiser for Speedway Children's Charities throughout the year and we are so blessed to have a community that supports them.
So if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend with friends or family join us for the region's biggest and brightest holiday tradition. You will be glad you did!
