Well… we now are OFFICIALLY into the Holiday Season. No, no, no, not Black Friday and Cyber Monday and Quick Lube Tuesday and all of that.

We celebrated Thanksgiving last week.  A time to reflect and be THANKful.

I did the usual around the table, besides eating way too much. I acknowledged I was grateful for my family and our home. But then I got to thinking. I mean really thinking.

Not that I am not thankful for those things, but I started thinking about what ELSE is on that list.

I have two lists, things for which I am thankful in our country and those for which I am thankful in which we are able to make a living. It is that list I’ll address today. I will save the other for another time.

So here goes.

I am thankful for this place where we work – Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway – and for the year-long party we had to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

I am thankful for the fans who came.

And the fans ...

And the fans …

I am thankful to the drivers who participated in Ford Fan Friday and Food City Race Night, our Question and Answer sessions and Brunch on Bruton – more than 20 in all.

I am thankful for the season we had to watch and celebrate and the way Carl Edwards and three-time champ Tony Stewart handled themselves on the way to the title.

I am thankful for the future of our sport in the hands of guys like Nationwide Champ Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Camping World Truck Champ Austin Dillon.

I am thankful for the men and women of our military, to whom we try to find ways to tip our caps in our pre-race shows, because what they do allows us to do what we do.

And I am thankful that, very soon, we will line them up and do it all over again in 2012.

Only 107 days until cars are on the track at Bristol Motor Speedway!
