From Past Fans To Fans On The Fence, Three Words, "It's Bristol Baby!"
Just TRY to keep from smiling when you ask someone who's been to the night races to name the best part of their Bristol Motor Speedway experience.
Beverly from Knoxville, TN answered easily, describing one of Bristol's treasured pre-race traditions.
"The guys jumping out of the plane with the American Flag. I have been coming to Bristol every year over 20 years and have seen this many, many times, but I get cold chills every time I see and this time was no exception. The whole Bristol experience is something special."
The response from Michelle in Clarksburg, West Virginia was quite descriptive, too. "Love the noise and the smell of in-your-face racing."
Christine in Greeneville, South Carolina told us, "LOVE LOVE LOVE watching the race - being with my Bristol Family and just enjoying the smell of rubber and sounds of the engines."
Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania Bristol fan Bryan described, "The vibrations of the race trucks and cars as they circled the wagons," as his favorites, while Alan from Ft Myers, Florida told us it was a tough question to answer.
"It's the total package of the weekend, from Food City Race Night in town and the friendliness of everyone from the volunteers at the admission area , through the entertainment to the 5K run, Friday the (Speedway Children's Charity) Cornhole Tourney, to the races Friday and Saturday night. At each race we go to, we think it can't get better than the last one, then we go to our next one and it does!"
Alan summed up his experience, telling us "When we fly home on Sunday, we feel very satisfied that we have gotten every dollar's worth that we could get out of the weekend."
Alan, Bryan, Christine, Michelle and Beverly experienced many of unique elements that will come together again this year for the upcoming IRWIN Tools Night Race event weekend. Fan activities include the mid-week doubleheader night races of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series UNOH 200 presented by ZLoop and the Whelen Modifieds Series Bush's Beans 150 on Wednesday and Friday's Bass Pro Shops Qualifying just before the green flag for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Food City 300. Ticket details and a full list of fan activities can be found within the Fan Info section of Bristolmotorspeedway.com.
Across the board, fans at the World's Fastest Half-Mile for the 2014 IRWIN Tools Night Race raved about the entire experience as something special. Many, like Jack in Louisville, Kentucky, now consider the night races a tradition.
"I attended my first race at Bristol at age 14 in 1961… and caught the fever. The track has grown to be the best on the circuit. I love Bristol and always look forward to attending this race", he explained.
Peoria, Illinois fan Margie went further, saying, "I brought my 10 yr-old son for his first Bristol race. There wasn't a single person who we spoke to who didn't try to include him in conversations or ask what he thought. We were given the opportunity to go to one of the free autograph sessions -- my son had me send a picture of him with his autographed hats to his dad and grandparents as soon as we were finished. This experience cemented his love of the sport and provided both of us with some awesome memories to relish for the rest of our lives."
First-timer Tia from Oklahoma City answered, "I have been dreaming of attending a Bristol night race for as long as I can remember and at the age of 59, I finally got to "mark this off my bucket list". I would love to be able to attend again… however I am not able to pick out a certain thing that I liked the most. Everything was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!"
Fans like Tracy in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Aaron who travelled to Bristol from his home in Canada simply answered our inquiry with this often-repeated phrase, "Its Bristol, Baby!"
