Bigfoot the Original Monster Truck Celebrates 40 Years of Crushing the Competition
BRISTOL, TENN. (July 21, 2015)- The iconic Bigfoot will join some of the biggest Monster Truck names in the business as they fly, crush and destroy everything in their way at the Thompson Metal Monster Truck Madness presented by Beef 'O' Brady's Saturday, July 25 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Bigfoot, the original monster truck, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. For its anniversary bash at Bristol Motor Speedway, Bigfoot and legendary driver Dan Runte will go retro with a Power Wheels body.
"It's a privilege to go where NASCAR races, and Bristol is the one of the elite venues in all of motorsports," Runte said. "There's not a bad seat in the house and you put monster trucks down in the bowl and it's awesome. We run hard at every event, but at Bristol for our fortieth anniversary, this is a big event for us. Saturday night we're going to put it all out there."
Bigfoot will be on display Friday, July 24, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Beef 'O' Brady's located at 173 Hudson Drive, Elizabethton, Tenn.
Dan Runte is widely considered to be one of the best competitors in the monster truck industry. Known as Dan "The Man," Runte started out at Bigfoot as a crew member and ended up loving it so much that he moved his way up through the ranks and is now Team Bigfoot's most daring and accomplished driver.
Fans should arrive early when the gates open at 5 p.m. for the Beef 'O' Brady's Pit Party to grab a photo beside the massive Bigfoot and meet the drivers, including Runte, who power the 2,000-horsepower beasts, purchase tickets for a ride in the Mighty Monster Bus, and enjoy all the pre-race festivities. Beef 'O' Brady's Family Sports Pub will provide balloons and coupons for a free kid's meal, redeemable at locations in Johnson City and Elizabethton, at the entrance to the pit party.
Then, at 7:30 p.m., the machines take over the infield with Monster Truck action, Freestyle Motorcross, a Drifting exhibition by East Tennessee Drift and an epic battle of fighting robots, Reptar vs. Galactron.
General admission tickets are $25. Tickets for kids 10 years old and under are $5. For more information and to purchase tickets call 423-BRISTOL or go to BristolMotorSpeedway.com.
