Logano's IRWIN Tools Night Race Victory Completes Ford Sweep At The Last Great Colosseum
Joey Logano held off teammate Brad Keselowski to win Saturday's IRWIN Tools Night race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The victory completed a race weekend sweep by Team Penske drivers at the half-mile track. Keselowski won the Camping World Truck Series race on Thursday and Ryan Blaney won Friday's Nationwide Series race.
Logano passed Matt Kenseth for the lead with 45 laps remaining and crossed the finish line 0.390 of a second ahead of Keselowski.
The victory added to Logano's confidence that his No. 22 Ford team has what it takes to win the championship. Before this season, he hadn't won more than one race in a given season. Saturday's was his third victory.
Kenseth led 62 laps and remains winless this season after a third place finish Saturday in the No. 20 Toyota. Jimmie Johnson overcame a pair of pit road speeding penalties to finish fourth in the No. 48 Chevrolet. Kurt Busch in the No. 41 Chevrolet rounded out the top five.
Jamie McMurray led the most laps (148) but wound up eighth after getting shuffled back in the pack before the final restart.
The driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet was leading the race when a caution came out on Lap 432. Four cars opted not to pit, and McMurray restarted fifth.
