Pressing pause to appreciate the view
By Ben Trout
Sandwiched between the August IRWIN Tools Night Race and the opening of our holiday season with AutoTrader.com Speedway In Lights, lies one of my favorite times of year on the calendar.
It has nothing to do with NCAA or NFL football, the MLB playoffs and World Series or even the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship. While the aforementioned are grand in their own right (and I thoroughly enjoy them all), I’m talking about something else.
Here in northeast Tennessee, and in many other parts of this great nation of ours, the middle of October is that time of year when our mountains take on all the brilliant colors of autumn. The mountains here truly are beautiful in all their splendor.
Which brings me to the real purpose of this week’s blog… It’s really easy to get caught up in all of the day-to-day business of this thing we call life. But it’s important to press pause, take a breather and appreciate the finer things with which we are blessed.
Below is a video I shot last year, which provides a glimpse of the Speedway and Dragway on a beautiful Autumn Day. Enjoy.
