August 26, the night of this year's sold-out Sharpie 500, is a good evening for drivers partial to Bristol Motor Speedway to add to their win total.

Four former series champions, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Rusty Wallace and Terry Labonte all recorded wins at The World's Fastest Half-Mile on the night of Aug. 26. Three of those four, Waltrip, Yarborough and Wallace, are three of the most successful drivers in the history of BMS.

Yarborough, a nine-time BMS winner, earned his eighth victory on the oval on Aug. 26, 1978, beating Benny Parsons by 16 seconds. In 1989 on Aug. 26, Waltrip picked up the 11th of his 12 wins, besting Alan Kulwicki by 5.04 seconds. In 1995 on Aug. 26, Terry Labonte edged Dale Earnhardt for his second win by a mere 0.1second. Rusty Wallace, who retired with nine BMS wins, recorded his ninth and final victory at BMS on Aug. 26 of 2000, beating Tony Stewart to the line by .501 second.

Currently Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch are the most successful active drivers at Bristol Motor Speedway, with five wins apiece to their credit.
