Qualifying Day, the Sharpie MINI 300 Busch Series race and the Food City 500 Nextel Cup race are considered must-see events by the Southeast Tourism Society for the first quarter of 2007.
The Southeast Tourism Society considers events from 11 states: West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida and Tennessee, for this prestigious honor.
Among the other events selected by the Southeast Tourism Society, which has published its Top 20 events list since 1985, for recognition is New Orleans' famed Mardi Gras.
Through a nomination process, the Southeast Tourism Society chooses the Top 20 events going on in the Southeast for each month of the year, and publishes this list of winners quarterly. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to more than 300 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations and others, as well as 125 AAA publications. The combined circulation runs into the millions.
The March 2007 race weekend at BMS begins with Qualifying Day on March 23, followed by the Sharpie MINI 300 on March 24 and the Food City 500 on March 25.
This is the second honor for Bristol Motor Speedway events in the past month. The American Bus Association recently named Speedway In Lights as one of the Top 100 events in the United States and Canada for 2007.
