The Ice Rink at Bristol Motor Speedway opens for its sixth season, Tuesday, Nov. 13 and once again it's expected to be a record-breaking year for attendance.
The rink, 60' x 120' in size, sits beneath a 64' x 144' tent and will be located at the Speedway's main entrance just off Hwy. 11E (Volunteer Parkway) near the elevator tower displaying the large "Bristol" signage.
"We've had great success with the Ice Rink the last five years," said Jeff Byrd, BMS president and general manager. "It definitely gives everybody something different to do since there aren't any other rinks in close proximity to this area. It's become extremely popular -- kids love it and lots of adults like to get out there too and show the kids that they're not the only ones who know how to have fun."
In the rink's first five years of operation, it drew approximately 120,000 skaters.
The Ice Skating Rink will open six days a week, beginning on Tuesday, November 13 and running through January 13. Tuesday through Thursday, the rink will open from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday hours are from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday the rink will open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost to skate is $5, plus an additional $2 for skate rental.
Holiday hours are as follows: Nov. 22-23 (2 p.m.-11 p.m.), Dec. 18-19 (4 p.m.-10 p.m.), Dec. 20 (2 p.m.-10 p.m.), Dec. 21-22 (2 p.m.-11 p.m.), Dec. 24 (4 p.m.-10 p.m.), Dec. 28-29 (2 p.m.-11 p.m.) and Dec. 31 (2 p.m.-11 p.m).
