Fans longing to get a real feel for Bristol Motor Speedway's high banks will have that opportunity during the upcoming August race week with the Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Along.
The Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Along is open to fans Thursday, Aug. 20. Fans who take part in the Experience will be outfitted in a fire suit before taking to the World's Fastest Half-Mile where they will to ride around NASCAR's most popular track for three laps with a qualified instructor.
A portion of the proceeds from the Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Along will benefit the Bristol chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.
Rides will be conducted on the track Thursday from 6:45 p.m.- 9:45 p.m., and fans may call 1-800-BEPETTY to register. If the schedule is not filled by the day of the event, walk-ups will then be accepted. Those who are pre-registered should arrive at the BMS garage entrance 30 minutes prior to session. Cost of the rides is $149 per person.
The Petty Driving Experience Ride-Along is just one of a number of events that highlight the August race week schedule. The week kicks off with the Baker Construction Services 11th Annual Speedway Children's Charities Golf Tournament Aug. 17, followed by the Wednesday night doubleheader at BMS which features the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Whelen Modified Series and the O'Reilly 200 Camping World Truck event. The Food City 250 Nationwide race is Friday night, Aug. 21, followed by the Sharpie 500 Saturday evening, Aug. 22.
