One of the most popular activities at Bristol Motor Speedway each winter has absolutely nothing to do with racing. Well, racing on the World's Fastest Half-Mile anyway.

People from all over Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia count the days until the Johnson Controls Ice Rink opens at BMS each year. As the only rink in the immediate area, it has become a tremendously popular attraction.

This year the rink will open Tuesday, Nov. 10 and will remain open through Sunday, Jan. 10.

The 60' x 120' rink is covered and is located at Speedway's main entrance just off Hwy. 11E (Volunteer Parkway).

The Johnson Controls Ice Rink will be open six days a week, beginning Tuesday, November 10.  Tuesday through Thursday, the rink will open from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.  Friday hours are from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday the rink will open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost to skate is $5, plus an additional $2 for skate rental.
