Students, ages 12 and under, in participating school systems will receive ticket vouchers to the Wednesday night doubleheader at Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 23 and by attending the races will give their respective schools the chance to win $3,000 in cash. The night features the Food City 150 presented by Naturally Fresh Hooters Pro Cup race, as well as the O'Reilly 200 Craftsman Series Truck event.
School systems already on board with the program include Bristol, Tennessee, Bristol, Virginia, Sullivan County (Tenn.), Carter County (Tenn.), Johnson County (Tenn.), Hawkins County (Tenn.) and Scott County (Va.).
Not only will those students receive free entry to the Wednesday night doubleheader with a paying adult, there's also an opportunity to earn money for their individual schools. The school with the highest percentage of students attending the races that night will earn $3,000 in cash. The second-place school will earn $1,000 in school supplies from Sharpie while the third-place school will earn $500 in supplies from Sharpie. Students will be asked to write the name of his or her school on the back of the voucher, which will then be exchanged for a ticket at any BMS ticket booth on Aug. 23.
