Carl Edwards captured the Sharpie MINI 300 to claim his very first victory at Bristol Motor Speedway last March and then returned in August to back it up with his first-ever Sprint Cup win on the half-mile oval in the Sharpie 500.
Edwards will go for the repeat in the Nationwide Series Sharpie MINI 300 on Saturday, March 15, along with a number of other Sprint Cup regulars.
Edwards’ first win at the World’s Fastest Half-Mile helped catapult him to his first Nationwide Series championship in 2007.
“It was awesome man,” Edwards said of the Sharpie MINI 300 victory. “It’s great to be able to get a win at a place like Bristol. This is such a tough place to win so it really means a lot to be able to win here.”
Kasey Kahne, who nailed down his first win at Bristol in the Food City 250 Nationwide Series race in August, will be one of a number of Cup drivers trying to stop Edwards from the pulling off the repeat. Other drivers who’ll be doing double duty competing in both the sold-out March 16 Food City 500 and the Sharpie MINI 300 are Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Greg Biffle, Bobby Labonte, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin.
Tickets are available for the Sharpie MINI 300, starting at only $45. Tickets also are available for Pole Day on Friday, March 14 and are only $15. Tickets to both may be purchased at www.bristoltix.com or by calling the BMS ticket office at 423.989.6900.
