Rubbin' is Racin' contest to name Bristol fan as official Spice Rub Chef - ENTER NOW!
NEW - Adjust Font Size:

As one of the shortest tracks in NASCAR, Bristol Motor Speedway and its official restaurateur, Levy Restaurants, have seen a lot of rubbin' between race cars. For this year's Food City 250 and Sharpie 500, Levy Restaurants is looking for a different kind of rubbin'. Levy is looking to fans in a recipe contest to crown the Signature Spice Rub of Bristol Motor Speedway for the 2009 racing season.

Open to Bristol fans and backyard BBQ enthusiasts alike, the winning chef will also receive great prizes including exclusive Bristol Club Suite tickets to the Sharpie 500.

Levy Restaurants is now accepting entries and seeking recipe submissions for a contest to be held on Thursday, August 21 at the speedway to find NASCAR's best homemade spice rub for pork, beef or chicken that combines great flavor with the spirit of racing.

Spice rubs are a combination of ground spices, seasonings and herbs that add flavor and texture, are coated on raw food, then left on or partially removed before grilling.

The winning chef will receive an official Bristol Motor Speedway/Levy Restaurants chef coat, a behind-the-scenes tour of the pit area and two Bristol Club Suite tickets for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Sharpie 500 Race being held on Saturday, August 23.

The exclusive Bristol Club Suite features climate controlled theatre-style reserved seating, Levy Restaurants signature Chef's Tables, wait staff, closed-circuit television coverage of the races and a souvenir program.

The other finalists will not walk away empty handed either, as even the contestants who do not capture the title will receive Bristol Club Suite tickets for the Food City 250 on Friday, August 22.

Five finalists will be selected and have two hours to prepare, grill and present their unique and savory combinations on Thursday, August 21 in the Hospitality Village Winner's Circle at Bristol Motor Speedway, where they will be reviewed by local judges including Bristol Motor Speedway President Jeff Byrd and his wife, Claudia Byrd, and Levy Restaurants Executive Chef Travis Taylor, with additional judges to be determined.

The winning spice rub will be served to the media and in the owner's VIP Suite on Saturday, August 23 prior to the start of the race. Additionally, the winning recipe will be officially named the 2009 Signature Rub of Bristol Motor Speedway, where it will be served to fans in select concession stands at the Food City 500 in March 2009 and throughout the season.
