Want to go SOLO this weekend? No … we don't mean leaving significant others at home, bring them too. But it is SOLO weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Benefiting Speedway Children's Charities and Legal Aid of Northeast Tennessee, Saturday May 3 is Solo Time in Tennessee and at BMS as licensed drivers may test their mettle against the clock on an autocross course laid out on the grounds outside the famed speedway.

Competing individually against the clock instead of fellow competitors, driver get at least three shots at a course with orange cones marking the turn, slaloms and straights. Drivers may get the lay of the land, or the course in this case, by walking the route to competition but may not take practice laps. The prize? Bragging rights and helping great causes.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and autocross runs start at 11 a.m. Registration fee is $35 per driver. Entry fee is $5 per spectator and $10 for a family. Spectators also may pay $10 to ride the course at competition speed with participating ETR drivers.

Once the autocross competition is complete, spectators and competitors alike may take a crack at track laps and, for an additional $25, take a spin on the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway - The Last Great Colosseum.

Competitors are encouraged to register online.  For more information, visit www.etrscca.org and click on "Solo," or call 1-800-821-1312, extension 1516.
