One of AutoTrader.com Speedway In Lights most successful seasons ever comes to a close
Approximately 200,000 Visitors Enjoyed 15th Edition of Show
The 15th edition of AutoTrader.com Speedway In Lights powered by TVA was the third most successful in the history of the holiday light show.
Speedway In Lights came to a close Saturday night after another tremendous seven-week run, resulting in the largest attendance since 2006, as approximately 200,000 guests visited the show.
Claudia Byrd, executive director of the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, is very appreciative of the outpouring of support.
“Every year the people in this community and beyond come out and support AutoTrader.com Speedway In Lights, and every year the number grows,” she said. “I cannot tell you how much I appreciate everybody from the area -- and from outside this area -- who have made it a tradition to come out and enjoy the lights.“
And the many volunteers who are here every single night working so hard, right along with all of the people here at Bristol Motor Speedway – they deserve so much credit for all they do to make Speedway In Lights such a success. I hope everyone realizes that by supporting this event, they’re helping to raise much needed funds for area children’s agencies. I really do appreciate everybody and all they do to support Speedway Children’s Charities.”
Proceeds from Speedway In Lights will benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, which has raised in excess of $6.5 million over the past 14 years for children’s agencies in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
While the Speedway In Lights season has ended, there's still an opportunity for seasonal fun at Bristol Motor Speedway. Both the Johnson Controls Ice Rink and HVAC Chill Hill will remain open through Saturday, Jan. 15. For more information, please call the BMS ticket office at 989-6900.
