Whelen Modified Drivers To Test At Bristol On Thursday; Session Open To Public
After participating in an exciting inaugural event in 2009, three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour drivers will return to the high-banks of Bristol Motor Speedway for a Hoosier Tire test Thursday, May 13. The test session is open to the public.
Whelen modified legend Mike Stefanik will be among the drivers helping Hoosier engineers select the tire compound that will be used during the Aug. 18 UNOH Perfect Storm 150. Burt Myers, of History Channel’s Madhouse fame, and James Civali also will take part in the session.
Spectators will have access to the grandstands through Gate 6, located on the backstretch side of the track. Parking is available just outside of the gate.
Drivers currently are scheduled to hit the track at 10 a.m., with a break for lunch at noon. Testing will resume at 1 p.m. and continue until 5 p.m.
Race fans should expect to see another amazing event during this season’s UNOH Perfect Storm 150. The event is packaged with the Camping World Truck Series O’Reilly 200, providing the perfect night of door-to-door action. Tickets for the UNOH Perfect Storm 150/O’Reilly 200 doubleheader are $30. Children 12 & under are admitted free.
Gates open on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 9 a.m., with several practice sessions for both series taking place throughout the day. Modified qualifying takes place at 2:45 p.m., while truck series qualifying is slated for 4:35 p.m. The lightning-quick modifieds will duel in the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 at 6 p.m. The O’Reilly 200 truck series event rolls off at 8 p.m.
