An expanded Thunder Valley Fly & Wine returns for a second season to Bristol Motor Speedway Friday, April 25 - Sunday, April 27. Increasing from two days to three, the event showcases the region's blue-ribbon fly waters and benefits the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

With an extra day the expanded schedule offers something for everyone from novice fishermen to the most experienced anglers.


Friday, April 25 - Opening Dinner

Spend an evening with a legend of the fly-fishing sport at Bristol Motor Speedway's Bruton Smith Building as angler Jim Casada entertains guests with fish tales of every sort. The evening concludes with a live auction featuring items from Casada as well as other fly fishing gear. Cost to attend is $50.

Saturday, April 26, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, April 27, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Thunder Valley Fly and Wine Expo, hosted in Bristol Motor Speedway's Hospitality Village, features Fly 101 Kids Clinic, casting clinics and competitions in the TitanRoof Casting Pond, fly-tying demonstrations and seminars from local and regional experts. Speakers for the event include expert anglers such as Mike Adams, Russ Ambrose , Jim Casada, David Hise, Mark Hutchinson, Don Kirk, Dan Long, Charlie Parker, Chris Willen and ORVIS Guide-of-the-Year Patrick Fulkrod.

Guests also have the opportunity to browse the displays of regional fly shops showcasing the latest developments in gear and technology.

Cost of a weekend expo ticket is $15 or $10 for a single day. Guests interested in sampling products from regional wineries and breweries may purchase a weekend wine/beer bundle ticket that includes entry into the expo and the Reedy Creek Vineyards Wine Garden and Holston River Brewing Company Beer Garden for $40 or a single-day bundle ticket for $25. Tickets may be purchased online at or purchased with cash on event day.

In addition to the expo, guests may also enjoy an exclusive lunch with expert anglers Jim Casada and Chris Willen at Saturday's "Flies, Lies and Other Fishtales." The Noon event provides attendees with a catered lunch and the opportunity to hear stories and get inside tips from two greats of the fly fishing world. Space is limited so guests are encouraged to register early. Cost to attend is $40 per person.

The Bristol chapter of Speedway Children's Charities use all event proceeds to support children's organizations in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Since its inception in 1996, the chapter has raised more than $8 million for the region.
