While Bristol Motor Speedway’s Thompson Metal Monster Truck Madness presented by Beef O’Brady’s Family Sports Restaurant gains in popularity each season, the Saturday, July 30 version is sure to be the biggest one yet.

Everyone loves monster trucks, but at this year’s event, fans will have something extra to cheer for when the metal-mashing begins. Fan-favorite Grave Digger®, known as the world’s most famous monster truck, will make its debut in what is sure to be a high-flying, car-crushing good time.

Considered by many as one of the most influential monster trucks of all time, Grave Digger will fly in to Bristol for a show fans will not soon forget. As the flagship truck for SPEED’s Monster Jam coverage, the Grave Digger team knows how to put on an entertaining night of racing.

While fans certainly will enjoy Grave Digger, their “spider-senses” may alert them to something else happening during the event. Spider-man™, also making its debut in Bristol, will join Grave Digger for a night of extreme excitement.

Just like Spidey, himself, Spider-man sports a red and blue paint scheme and is ready to take on anything in its path.

Several more trucks made popular by Monster Jam will be in the show, including Avenger, Brutus, Samson, Gunslinger and Bristol-based War Wizard.

Fans will be on the edge of their seats as they witness some of the biggest monster truck names in the business, flying, crushing and destroying everything in their way.

Trucks will race around the Bristol Motor Speedway infield during two qualifying rounds. Racing eliminations will begin after qualifying is complete.  After the racing champion is crowned, the trucks return for everyone’s favorite event, freestyle. In freestyle, drivers will perform stunts and moves fans normally see on TV.

For those that want to get even closer to the action, the pre-race pit party allows fans to come to the infield of the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile” to meet the drivers, get autographs and pose for pictures next to the trucks. Merchandise from the drivers also will be available for purchase.

In addition, the Team FMX freestyle motocross team will put on a stunning display of awesome jumps and stunts just like the ones seen on TV. The routines are always a crowd-favorite and the Team FMX riders always are happy to put on an amazing show for their screaming fans.

One of last year’s highlights, the jet car burn down, returns for this season’s event. A jet car, chained to an old junker, will turn on the afterburners and torch the car until it melts to the ground.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. Children 10 and under are only $5. The pit party, which is free for anyone with an event ticket, begins at 6 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

Additionally, a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of BMS also will take place on July 30. The 50th Anniversary Fan Appreciation Day begins at 1 p.m. with track laps, which will take place until 3 p.m. The celebration will continue until the infield is cleared at 4:30 in order to prepare for the Thompson Metal Monster Truck Madness.

Track laps, always a popular event, will be offered at no charge to any fan with tickets to NASCAR events at BMS. Guests who are not ticket holders also may take their own cars around the concrete oval after making a donation of any amount to Speedway Children’s Charities.

Food City will provide hot dogs and chips, and Pepsi will supply drinks while supplies last. Wings, supplied by BKW, also will be available while supplies last. Several local bandswill be on hand to provide entertainment.

While everyone who takes part in the celebration that day will receive 50th anniversary items free, guests also will be encouraged to register for a variety of giveaways, including a four-day Carnival Festiva Adventure Club Caribbean cruise, as well as a big screen television from Aaron’s, groceries/gas for a year from Food City, IRWIN tools, suite seats and tickets to the IRWIN Tools Night Race weekend.
