Lorenzen Drives No. 28 to Second Bristol Win, Only 28 Days Until NASCAR Returns to BMS
In March 1964, the No. 28 of Fred Lorenzen finished the Southeastern 500 a half-lap before the rest of the field, leading teammate Fireball Roberts and Paul Goldsmith across the line. Wheeling the famed Holman-Moody No. 28 to the front of the field on lap seven and keeping it there for the next 494 laps, Lorenzen notched the second of three consecutive Bristol wins in a grueling race that saw only half of the 36 starters running at the finish.
In just 28 days, NASCAR returns to Bristol's grueling banks for an action-packed weekend that features a Saturday racing doubleheader with the Nationwide Series Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 presented by Lilly Diabetes and the K&N PittLite 125 and Sunday's Food City 500. Weekend ticket packages start at just $89 and single-day tickets are still available. To reserve your seat inside the Last Great Colosseum, visit click here or call (855) 580-5525.
