Outcast Kustoms' new Bristol-themed RV ready to hit the road
Show featuring RV transformation airs Monday, May 7 at 9 PM EST
Race fans everywhere should be on the lookout as Bristol Motor Speedway is hitting the road thanks to Outcast Kustoms and a new Bristol-themed RV designed to bring the excitement of BMS to the masses.
April and Kelvin Locklear, owners of Mooresville, N.C.- based Outcast Kustoms, transformed a Tom Johnson motorcoach into the ultimate racing road show to allow fans across the country a chance to revel in the Bristol experience. The entire conversion was captured for an episode of Outcast Kustoms which will air Monday, May 7 at 9 p.m. on Velocity.
The new RV was unveiled during the Food City 500 race weekend and will become the hot spot for Bristol supporters at numerous races, sporting events and community activities each year. BMS officials are asking fans to provide input on what they feel should be the name of the new RV. A contest will be hosted at www.bristolmotorspeedway.com/fanRV. Once the name is selected, the winning participant will receive two tickets to the IRWIN Tools Night Race and a BMS fan prize pack.
“Building the bus has been like being a fan of Bristol,” said Kelvin Locklear. “It’s wild, it’s exciting, it’s breathtaking, and it’s coming down to the wire. Just like the races, they’re all of that and came down to the wire in the end. The fans are going to love it. From being a Bristol fan myself, they’re going to love it. It’s a party on wheels.”
“The hardest thing about this is picking a few Bristol highlights. The bus design would have been crazy if you’d used all of them, so we had to go pick and choose different things that would say, ‘That’s Bristol.’”
Upon first glance, it is obvious the new RV is all things Bristol. The exterior features a collage of memorable moments from both Bristol Motor Speedway and Bristol Dragway, as well as a replica of Bristol’s flag stand. For cooking up the definitive tailgating meal, this machine is equipped with a fold-out grill to make the most seasoned tailgater jealous.
Two large-screen televisions extend from the motorcoach to allow fans the opportunity to watch the race and play video games on the exterior gaming center at the same time. Outside kiosks also let fans buy tickets, sign up to receive Bristol newsletters and learn more about upcoming events.
This “Bristolized” bus continues to impress on the inside, with several exciting features, including a wall of honor with each Sprint Cup Series winner at BMS and an overhauled kitchen designed to resemble a team pit box.
“I want the fans to cheer; to realize that it’s kind of what’s wrapped up in their head when they’re at Bristol,” Locklear added. “Bristol’s got fans who have been there for 50 years…we’re here for the long haul and want them to cheer.”

The August race week at BMS kicks off Aug. 22 with a doubleheader, which features the Camping World Truck Series race and the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Whelen Modified event. On tap Aug. 24 is the Food City 250 Nationwide Series race, followed by the IRWIN Tools Night Race Sprint Cup event Aug. 25.
