The sharks are circling at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) as thousands of rubber sharks float down Beaver Creek in the seventh annual Sharky 500 and Kid's Expo.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, families and fans line the banks of the BMS creek to cheer their entry to victory, knowing the first fish across the finish lines earns its purchaser a trip home in the track's official pace car - a 2014 Ford Mustang valued at more than $38,000.

The Kid's Expo takes places from 11 a.m - 2 p.m. on Oct.6 with the race scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. The sharks are simultaneously released into the water, and the day's fastest fish wins the pace car. Prizes, including a two-night stay for eight at Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock, N.C. and a four-night staycation at Wilderness of the Smokies Water and Adventure Park, are also awarded to the second through tenth place finishers.

Cost to purchase a shark is $10 and can be purchased online at Bristol.SpeedwayCharities.org or by calling (855) 580-5525. Proceeds from the event benefit children's agencies in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, and there is no limit on the number of sharks an individual can purchase. Winners do not have to be present to claim their prizes.

Along with the race, families can participate in the Kid's Expo free of charge. Featuring pumpkin painting, games, inflatables, music and more this event provides something for everyone to enjoy.

Additional event sponsors include VIP Seen, Ripleys Aquarium of the Smokies, Electric 94.9, and the Bristol Herald Courier.
