AutoTrader.com’s Speedway in Lights Powered by TVA and the region’s Ford Dealers have teamed up to raise food for Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee again this year.
Receive $2 off the price of admission to Speedway in Lights with a donation of non-perishable food on Tuesday nights. Food may also be dropped off at area Ford Dealers in exchange for tickets to Speedway in Lights now through January 3, 2012 (Five cans of food to receive the free Speedway in Lights ticket).
The Food Bank is experiencing record demand for food this holiday season. Each donation helps provide food for over 200 non-profit organizations that distribute food to people at risk for hunger in the eight county region of Northeast Tennessee. Food Bank agencies report that a total of 36,000 people are depending on them for food assistance each month.
“The increased need for food becomes especially evident during the holiday and winter months as heating costs increase,” states the Food Bank’s Executive Director, Rhonda Chafin, “our goal is to stay ready for the increased demand for food and we are asking the community for help.” Individuals and organizations can help and also receive discounted tickets by donating food at Bristol Speedway in Lights on Tuesday nights through January 3 or at the region’s Ford Dealers.
