Jerry Caldwell, President & General Manager, Bristol Motor Speedway: “Everyone at Bristol Motor Speedway is heartbroken by the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch. Kyle was one of the most formidable competitors our sport has ever known — a champion, a record-setter and a once-in-a-generation talent whose will to win helped define an era in NASCAR.
“At Bristol, Kyle gave our fans moments they will never forget. His unprecedented historic weekend sweeps on the World’s Fastest Half-Mile showed the full measure of his talent, toughness and command behind the wheel. He raced Bristol with the kind of fire that made people lean forward in their seats, and whether fans cheered him or challenged him, they always knew they were watching greatness.
“Our prayers are with Samantha, Brexton, Lennix, Kurt and the entire Busch family, as well as Richard and Judy Childress, everyone at Richard Childress Racing, Kyle’s teammates, friends and the millions of fans who loved him. NASCAR lost a giant, and Bristol Motor Speedway will forever be grateful for the unforgettable mark Kyle Busch left at our track and on our sport.”

Kyle Busch at Bristol Motor Speedway: As a competitor, Kyle Busch was one of the best ever at meeting the challenge of Bristol Motor Speedway, where he found his groove on the demanding high banks and raced to a track-record 23 NASCAR national-series victories across NASCAR’s three marquee divisions. He won nine NASCAR Cup Series races at Bristol, including eight on the concrete surface and one on Bristol’s dirt configuration in 2022, added nine victories in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and posted a category-best five wins in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. His most remarkable Bristol accomplishment came through two dominant weekend sweeps, in 2010 and 2017, when he won all three NASCAR national-series races in a single Bristol weekend. He remains the only driver in NASCAR history to accomplish that triple-sweep feat — and he did it twice. For his NASCAR career, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion won 63 races at NASCAR’s highest level and earned a record 234 victories across NASCAR’s three national series, including 102 in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and 69 in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.
