Just as the lyrics to Chuck Berry's 1958 holiday classic "Run Run Rudolph" reminds the lovable reindeer with the shiny nose that Santa's got to make it to town, the Bristol chapter of Speedway Children's Charities invites runners to visit Bristol Motor Speedway next month to help kids in need.

The Cigna Speedway in Lights 5K presented by Fleet Feet will return for its ninth year on Sunday, Nov. 10. Growing in stature as an Appalachian Highlands beloved holiday 5K, the event officially kicks off SCC-Bristol's annual winter festivities and serves as a major fundraiser for the organization. Last year, the SCC-Bristol chapter raised over $800,000 to help local kids in need in 18 counties surrounding Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway.

"There's nothing better than running for a great cause while being the first to see the amazing Christmas displays that make up The Pinnacle Speedway in Lights," said Claudia Byrd executive director of SCC-Bristol. "We can't thank our sponsors, participants and volunteers enough for what they do to support our chapter, which has raised nearly $15 million throughout its history to support local children in need. It's time to kick off another amazing holiday season with the Cigna Speedway in Lights 5K presented by Fleet Feet."

The Cigna Speedway in Lights 5K will begin at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10. Participants in the 5K will run through the hundreds of displays and millions of lights that make up one of the largest Christmas displays in the Southeast. Runners will then finish their race in the infield at the official post-race holiday party sponsored by Home Trust Bank. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners.

Guests may sign up with advanced registration for $30, which can be completed at http://bit.ly/SCCSIL5K. Kids 12-and-under are only $15. The final day to register is Saturday, Nov. 9. Packet pickup on the day of the event will begin at 4 p.m. To guarantee shirt size and availability, participants are asked to register by Sunday, Oct. 27.
