There’s going to be some Suplexes, Body Slams, Figure-Fours and Piledrivers taking place at Bristol Motor Speedway’s Fan Zone during America’s Night Race weekend, Sept. 17-19, as an atmosphere of professional wrestling surrounds the iconic NASCAR racing event.
Don’t worry, NASCAR drivers aren’t going to be getting into any off-track scuffles. At least none that we know about at this point. But until that time, if it should happen, there's going to be plenty of wrestling going on for spectators at the event to enjoy.
Live Professional Wrestling is going to be a featured attraction in the BMS Fan Zone on Friday and Saturday and the Nature Boy Ric Flair, a 16-time world champion, is going to make an appearance on Saturday at the track.
A trio of Sullivan County partners, including Visit Kingsport, Explore Bristol and the Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association, have teamed up to bring race fans an action-packed professional wrestling experience during America’s Night Race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Live Professional Wrestling will keep race fans entertained with an official ring set up in the BMS Fan Zone on both Friday (12:45-5:30 p.m.) and Saturday (12:45-3:30 p.m.). Some of the wrestlers expected to attend include NWA superstars Kerry Morton, Alex Taylor, Axton Ray, Clara Carter, and JCW World Champion Caleb Konley. There is no additional admission price to attend the wrestling events in the BMS Fan Zone.
WWE and NWA Hall of Fame wrestler Ricky Morton, a Bristol area native, also will be on hand during the event. The event will include singles matches, tag team matches, along with triple threat matches. There will also be a championship main event match as the final match on Saturday afternoon. After the wrestling is over Saturday there will be a fan meet and greets.
While all of that is going on, the legendary “Nature Boy” Ric Flair’s brand Flair Spirits is sponsoring Cup Series driver Josh Bilicki during the Bass Pro Shops Night Race in the No. 66 Garage 66 Ford owned by MBM Motorsports and Carl Long.
Bilicki, of Menomonee Falls, Wis., is looking to make his sixth career Cup Series start at Bristol Motor Speedway. Flair’s spirits have won many taste awards, beating the premium brands.
Flair is scheduled to make an appearance on the Trackside Live stage on Saturday afternoon. Kenny Wallace and John Roberts kick off the show at 4 p.m. ET.
Flair is an eight-time NWA champ, a six-time WCW champ and a two-time WWF world heavyweight champion. A member of the notorious Four Horsemen, Flair has earned more than 2,500 career match victories and is a member of the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.
The race weekend features the crown jewel Bass Pro Shops Night Race on Saturday night, Sept. 19, a 500-lap post-season race in the NASCAR Cup Series and also the Food City 300 on Friday night, Sept. 18, a Chase race in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series opens its Chase at Bristol with the UNOH 250 presented by Ohio Logistics in what promises to be a thrilling Thursday night double-header with the ARCA Menards Series, which will open the racing that afternoon with the Bush’s Beans 200 as the future stars of the sport take to the track.
