Major League Baseball today unveiled the Speedway Classic uniforms that the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds will sport in their historic matchup at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 2 which include accents to existing Club jerseys and special designs on the cap visors and batting helmets.
Both Nike jerseys stay true to the respective looks of the Braves and Reds while adding subtle touches that connect to the racing world. The core uniforms remain classic with custom numbers on the jersey backs complemented by specially designed caps and helmets that bring a fresh look and pay tribute to motorsport design. The jersey numbers are designed in the spirit of racecar numbers, with bold outlines, shadowing and movement that echo the iconic car designs. Each team’s colors bring those numbers to life in a way that feels unique to their jersey.
New Era Cap, the longtime Official Cap of MLB, designed each team’s caps to similarly reflect the motorsports thematic. The Braves cap features flames on the top of the visor, while the Reds cap has checkered racing flags across its visor.
The Rawlings-produced helmets are a first for MLB: custom-designed for a special league event, inspired directly by NASCAR helmet design that resulted in branded Club helmets which feature race-style player numbers, speed-inspired wordmarks and checkered flag emblems that connect back to each Club’s identity.
These unique uniforms, as well as the iconic Bristol Motor Speedway ballpark featured in this historic match-up, will be available for fans to play with in MLB The Show 25, baseball’s hallmark console video game.
The core uniforms remain familiar, but the added touches reflect the adrenaline, spectacle, and crossover appeal of this unique game. Both the caps and jerseys are now available at MLBShop.com and the Fanatics network of sites, the MLB Flagship Store in NYC, the Reds Team Shop at Great American Ball Park and the Braves Clubhouse Store at Truist Park, while NewEraCap.com offers both the Official game caps as well as an assortment of non-game caps that celebrate the historic matchup. Jerseys and fan wear apparel representing the Speedway Classic are also available at Nike.com. Merchandise locations on-site at Bristol Motor Speedway will also offer the game jerseys and caps in addition to a wide assortment of Speedway Classic fan apparel, collectibles and souvenirs.
Before the players take the field in these one-of-a-kind uniforms, Tim McGraw, Pitbull and Jake Owen headline the special Pregame Concert presented by T-Mobile 5G Home Internet adjacent to the field.
Before stepping inside Tennessee’s famed Bristol Motor Speedway, Jake Owen headlines a full day of musical sets in the Speedway Classic Fan Zone, a one-of-a-kind baseball fan festival that spans more than 220,000 square feet with interactive games, live music, unique regional food, exhibits, special guests and custom photo ops for fans of all ages. While limited inventory lasts, fans can secure tickets to the game and upgrades closer to the concert stage at MLB.com/SpeedwayClassic. FOX plans to feature portions of the special performance during their pregame event coverage.
The MLB Speedway Classic presented by BuildSubmarines.com will mark the first MLB game ever played in Tennessee, which will become the fifth different state across the country since 2016 to host an MLB game that will be a first-time AL or NL contest.
The MLB Speedway Classic follows other recent special events that have taken groundbreaking Major League games to non-traditional domestic locales, including the 2016 Fort Bragg Game (which included the Braves playing the Miami Marlins); the annual Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania since 2017; MLB in Omaha at the NCAA’s Men’s College World Series in 2019; MLB at Field of Dreams in 2021 and 2022 (the latter of which included the Reds playing the Chicago Cubs); and MLB at Rickwood Field: A Tribute to the Negro Leagues in 2024. These events marked the first AL or NL games ever played in North Carolina, Nebraska, Iowa and Alabama, respectively.
